In 2001 The HSC (Health & Safety Commission) released their latest ACOP (L8) - The control of legionella bacteria in water systems.

This Code is enforceable principally under The Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and The COSHH Regulations 1999 and replaced the previous HSC ACOP L8 and associated HSE HS(G)70 guidelines. It affects all employers and those with responsibility for water systems in premises.

Under the requirements of the ACOP L8 employers and those with responsibility for premises must:

1. Identify and assess sources of risk.

2. Prepare a written scheme for preventing or controlling the risk.

3. Implement, Manage and Monitor Precautions.

4. Appoint a person to be managerially responsible.

5. Have adequate training and resources.

The legionellosis risk assessment survey:

Identifies and evaluates sources of risk

Includes a written scheme for controlling the risk.

To ensure full ACOP (L8) compliance, drawings of each system are also included with the report to help clearly identify problem areas. Amphibia drawings are produced using the very latest computer aided design (CAD) technology and provided for clients on CD Rom at no extra charge.

It should be noted that under the requirements of the ACOP (L8) your legionellosis risk assessment must be reviewed at least every 24 months.

Our user friendly, report format has consistently set new standards for our industry, year after year. In fact, our reputation is such that in 1999 the Health & Safety Executive invited our Team of consultants to provide expert advice on preparing the latest ACOP (L8).
